Waco Youth Shine Bright at SPJST State Showcase

Several talented young individuals from McLennan County's SPJST Lodge 66 in Waco recently achieved state and leadership recognition at the annual State Youth Showcase. The event took place on July 25 at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center in Temple, celebrating the achievements of youth members across various categories. Tynlee Beckendorf, a standout from Lodge 66, was named the first runner-up for Miss SPJST, the organization's highest youth honor for high school students. This prestigious title requires contestants to develop and execute a year-long community service project, fostering leadership and project management abilities. Beckendorf also secured third place in the Individual Talent competition for her original comedic performance, aptly titled "Being a Teenager." Additional McLennan County participants also garnered awards. Jameson Trickett-Collins, representing Lodge 66, was honored as Little Mr. SPJST, a significant recognition within the program's younger categories. Reid Galler earned first place in the Holiday Corner category with his innovative flag-themed cooling rack, showcasing his crafting skills. Fiona Galler also achieved success, taking home second place in Pictorial Art for her creative piece, "String Ray." These impressive results highlight the dedication and diverse talents of Waco's youth, as nurtured by organizations like SPJST Lodge 66. Their success at the state level brings pride to our local community and underscores the value of youth development programs.
