Waco ISD Schools Welcome Back All Students for the New Academic Year

The hallways and classrooms of Waco Independent School District were bustling with activity this Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as all campuses officially commenced the new school year. The district-wide return saw students eager to get back to learning and reconnect with classmates and teachers. Although learners at Dean Highland and South Waco elementary schools began their academic journey a bit earlier in the month, August 12th was the designated first day for the majority of students within the district's system. District leadership has confirmed that there are no significant new policies being introduced this fall. Instead, the focus remains on upholding and enforcing the current guidelines and regulations already in place across all schools.
