Waco City Council Approves Major Development Near I-35 and Loop 340

The Waco City Council recently approved a substantial development project for a 252-acre parcel situated at the junction of Loop 340 and Interstate 35. This prime location is set to become home to a "retail warehouse" and additional prominent big-box retailers, according to the Waco Tribune-Herald. Mayor Jim Holmes characterized this agreement as a "milestone transaction" for Waco, highlighting the involvement of a "familiar brand name." He described the Interstate 35 frontage in this area as Waco’s southern gateway and emphasized the city officials' careful selection process for development proposals to ensure a high-caliber outcome. Mayor Holmes stated to the council that the result is a "top-flight, premier development concept." Holmes also drew a connection between this new development and the ongoing growth along State Highway 6/West Loop 340, specifically mentioning the Walmart milk processing plant in Robinson Business Park. He expressed confidence, saying, "I feel we’re getting there," in reference to the continued efforts to develop key land parcels across the region.
