Waco Teams Compete for State 7-on-7 Qualification
Three McLennan County high school teams, including Waco Midway, Lorena, and West, are set to participate in state qualifying tournaments this weekend. These teams will battle it out in 7-on-7 football events, with the opportunity to secure a spot in the state championships.
Local high school football teams are hitting the field this weekend in their quest for the state 7-on-7 tournament. Waco Midway High School is scheduled to participate in the Division I Northwest SQT on Saturday, May 23. This tournament, hosted at Northwest High School, will see teams vie for one of three available state qualification spots.
In Division II, two McLennan County teams will host and compete in important qualifying events. Lorena High School will host a McLennan County SQT on Saturday, May 23. They will be joined by fellow local teams McGregor, Troy, Rockdale, Little River-Academy, Cameron Yoe, and La Grange.
Simultaneously, West High School will also host a McLennan County SQT on Saturday, May 23. Participating alongside West will be Crawford, Robinson, and Whitney, along with Dallas Kimball, Kaufman, and Waco La Vega. Both Lorena and West's tournaments offer two pathways to the state championship, making this a pivotal weekend for local football talent.
