Baylor Bears Prep for New Season with Youthful Running Back Corps

The Baylor Bears football program is gearing up for a new season with a significant focus on its running back talent, featuring a youthful yet experienced group. Last season, injuries thrust several younger players into expanded roles, and now these athletes are ready to take on even bigger responsibilities. Sophomore Caden Knighten, who surprisingly took on a primary role last year, is expected to be a key player. He finished the previous season with 469 rushing yards on 104 carries and scored one touchdown. Knighten admits both he and his family were surprised by how quickly he adapted to college-level play, attributing his success to being "coached really quickly." Fellow sophomore Michael Turner is also poised for a larger contribution. Despite facing injuries last year that limited his play to just six games, Turner utilized his time off the field to improve his game. He emphasized learning to be more patient in his runs, a skill he developed by carefully observing game footage. Turner expressed confidence in the current group of running backs, stating, "As you can see, all of us are going to get the job done." Adding to the excitement is true freshman Ryelan Morris, a highly touted four-star recruit. Morris arrives with an impressive high school record, having amassed over 1,700 rushing yards in both his junior and senior years at Honey Grove High School. He is already making a strong impression in spring practices and is anticipated to carve out a significant role in the Baylor offense during his debut season.
