Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary has announced plans to open a new campus in Dallas, set to begin classes in fall 2027. This expansion will be located at Park Cities Baptist Church, offering a convenient option for individuals in the Dallas area seeking theological education. The Dallas campus, known as Truett Dallas, will provide a range of degree programs, including the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, and a Master of Theological Studies. These programs will feature seminar-style, in-person instruction, and Doctor of Ministry cohorts will also be available. This initiative aims to increase accessibility for students and pastors who face challenges commuting to the Waco main campus due to growing population and traffic. Todd Still, dean of Truett Seminary, emphasized that this move is part of an ongoing effort to make a quality theological education both accessible and affordable. The seminary maintains a pricing structure of $710 per semester hour, with every student receiving scholarship assistance, ensuring that no one pays the full tuition cost. Discussions regarding the Dallas expansion have been underway for approximately two years, emerging from Baylor's strategic planning process. The decision to partner with Park Cities Baptist Church was a natural progression, building on the seminary's long-standing relationship with the church. This follows the successful establishment of extension locations in Houston and San Antonio. Currently, Truett Seminary is coordinating with its accrediting agencies to secure necessary approvals for the Dallas campus. Future plans include hiring an inaugural director, recruiting students, and fostering partnerships with various churches across the Metroplex. An invitation-only gathering for lead pastors is scheduled for early September to further these connections.
